What Goes Around Comes Around Celebrates 30 Years of Luxury Vintage

The concept of «vintage» evolves with time and decades. For the co-founders of «What Goes Around Comes Around» (WGACA), Seth Weisser and Gerard Maione, this beloved luxury vintage store, the definition of vintage varies. They recently spoke to FashionNetwork.com during a celebration marking their 30th anniversary, shedding light on how WGACA is charting a path for the next 30 years.

WGACA, known for its three retail locations, two in Soho and one in Beverly Hills, has always upheld its commitment to offering top-tier inventory in-store and online. In a testament to their dedication to excellence, the brand recently unveiled a curated 49-piece capsule collection featuring André Leon Talley’s prized possessions, including Louis Vuitton trunks adorned with his ALT monogram and a remarkable selection of original Gianni Versace clothing.

Expanding their horizons, WGACA has ventured into live-shopping content. They’ve transformed the lower level of their Wooster Street store into a state-of-the-art video studio, investing significantly in this endeavor. The dynamic Mason Howell, formerly of Sotheby’s and Christie’s, serves as the primary host for daily live stream events. The brand has plans to further enhance this platform by featuring guest influencers and other tastemakers and launching on TikTok’s live shop in the near future.

The challenges posed by the pandemic led to the closure of three WGACA locations, but it also ignited a new perspective. The brand’s focus has shifted toward making its meticulously curated vintage treasures accessible across the United States. Gerard Maione noted the growing demand for luxury vintage nationwide and emphasized WGACA’s ability to meet this demand through strategic partnerships with global sourcing partners. Notable wholesale clients include Kith, Goop, Shopbop, Epcot Center, Dillard’s, and Amazon, with the latter partnership significantly boosting the brand’s presence.

Seth Weisser highlighted that WGACA originated as a ‘vintage heritage’ retailer, introducing and educating consumers about vintage fashion. Over the years, they’ve evolved into a luxury resale brand. Unlike some competitors, WGACA takes pride in owning its inventory, setting it apart in the market. The brand continuously adapts to fashion trends and consumer demands, offering a diverse range of items, from designer fashion of the past to the latest collections.

The future of luxury resale looks promising, particularly with younger generations embracing vintage fashion and sustainability. Weisser and Maione are confident that this segment will continue to flourish. WGACA’s unwavering commitment to authenticity, quality, and pristine condition establishes it as a trusted choice for luxury vintage.
