Patrick Grant and Community Clothing launch campaign to boost Welsh manufacturing

Patrick Grant and Community Clothing Launch «Hello Boyos» Campaign to Revitalize Welsh Underwear Manufacturing

Wales, once a hub for intimate apparel manufacturing, is poised to rekindle its legacy in the underwear production industry. Patrick Grant’s renowned clothing brand and social enterprise, Community Clothing, is spearheading this revival.

Under the banner of ‘Hello Boyos,’ a playful nod to the iconic ‘Hello Boys’ slogan famously delivered by supermodel Eva Herzigova for Wonderbra in the 1990s, Community Clothing has initiated a campaign to breathe new life into Welsh manufacturing.

The ‘Hello Boyos’ campaign marks Community Clothing’s debut in the affordable underwear market for both men and women. Known for its unwavering commitment to UK-based manufacturing, the company is embarking on a bold mission to kickstart underwear production in Wales from the ground up. To achieve this ambitious goal, Community Clothing invites customers to pre-order their underwear through the Hello Boyos campaign website, with a target of 10,000 pre-orders.

Once this milestone is achieved, the company intends to leverage this support to establish regular production, potentially rehiring up to 50 skilled staff in the short term.

The campaign has brought together a host of Welsh talent, including singer and actor Wynne Evans and comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean. It also features the company’s founder, Patrick Grant (originally from outside Wales), photographed in their underwear by renowned British portrait photographer Chris Floyd.

Patrick Grant remarked, «Everything we do at Community Clothing centers around creating exceptional clothing and preserving and generating skilled job opportunities. The South Wales Valleys boast a rich history of crafting the finest underwear, and we are determined to see that tradition endure. Supporting our campaign means bolstering the growth of quality jobs in a region of the UK that truly needs them.»

The new «everyday» underwear collection for both men and women is crafted from 100% organic single-farm cotton fabric, knitted in the UK in Leicestershire. Every piece is meticulously cut and sewn by skilled seamstresses at the factory in New Tredegar, South Wales, under Grant’s watchful eye.

The women’s collection includes a cami, two unstructured bra styles, and three knicker shapes in a variety of colors. The men’s range offers three pant styles, catering to diverse preferences.

This inclusive collection spans sizes 6-20 for women and XS to 4XL for men, with prices ranging from £9 to £15. Supporters of the campaign who pre-order from the underwear collection will also enjoy a 10-15% discount on the retail price.
