Harrods Expands Beauty Recycling Program to All H Beauty UK Stores

Luxury retailer Harrods is making strides in sustainability, expanding its successful MyBeauty Recycle & Reward program to all H Beauty stores across the UK. Building on last year’s successful trial in Milton Keynes, the program is now accessible in Bristol, Edinburgh, Gateshead, and Lakeside.

Customers can now recycle a range of beauty products, from compacts, lipsticks, and mascaras to skincare and shampoo bottles, lotion pumps, and miniature travel items. Conveniently located bins near the tills facilitate the recycling process, allowing customers to earn rewards through the MyBeauty loyalty scheme.

Mia Collins, Director of Beauty Buying at Harrods, underscores the brand’s commitment to sustainable practices, stating, «Launching the recycling scheme’s second phase on a wider scale stands as a pinnacle for Harrods and H Beauty, emphasizing our dedication to sustainable practices. The scheme resonates with our customers passionate about embracing an eco-conscious lifestyle.»

In this extended program, customers returning five or more eligible used items will receive 500 bonus MyBeauty rewards points. Harrods has partnered with MYGroup, a leader in cosmetics waste processing, for this initiative. The collected items will be responsibly recycled at MYGroup’s dedicated UK-based facility in Hull, East Yorkshire.

Steve Carrie, Group Director at MYGroup, stresses the initiative’s significance, citing data from The British Beauty Council that reveals only 9% of cosmetic packaging is recycled through conventional household waste channels. Harrods’ commitment to recycling is a crucial step in addressing beauty industry waste and contributing to a more sustainable future.
