Wunderkind, a premier customer engagement platform, meticulously analyzed data from over 42 million shopper journeys spanning October 2-15, 2023. Their findings unveiled an extraordinary «halo» effect generated by Amazon Prime Day. This effect ignited a shopping spree across various retailer websites, resulting in a significant 7.69% surge in web traffic compared to the previous week. Shoppers were on a mission to validate and secure the best deals.

This phenomenon was further amplified by competing retailers, who also rolled out enticing discount offers, vying to rival Amazon’s monumental sale event and recapture market share.

Meanwhile, Sensormatic, a shopper traffic analysis authority, conducted a study among over 1,000 UK shoppers, revealing a compelling trend. In the face of economic uncertainty and tightened household budgets, an impressive 49% of UK consumers had already initiated their gift-buying endeavors by October. An additional 38% were gearing up to commence their Christmas shopping earlier this year. The motivations are twofold: the quest for unbeatable deals and the desire to spread the cost of holiday shopping.
