Alber Elbaz, the renowned fashion designer celebrated for his groundbreaking work at Lanvin and his recent venture, AZ Factory, passed away on April 24, 2021, in Paris at the age of 59. While the cause of his death remains undisclosed, his significant contributions to the fashion industry have left an enduring legacy. Richemont, the Swiss luxury group with which Elbaz collaborated on AZ Factory, confirmed his passing.

Johann Rupert, President of Richemont, expressed deep sorrow at the news, praising Elbaz’s remarkable qualities. He stated, «Alber had a well-deserved reputation as one of the most brilliant and most liked personalities in the industry. I always admired his intelligence, sensitivity, generosity, and untamed creativity. Elbaz’s illustrious career included a transformative period at Lanvin, where he served as creative director from 2001 to 2015. Following his departure from Lanvin, he engaged in various collaborations, partnering with Tod’s, LeSportsac, and Converse. In January, he introduced AZ Factory during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, aiming to create a high-end yet accessible fashion label.
