Unified Commerce Group announced its majority stake acquisition of Spiritual Gangster, the Los Angeles-based athleisure brand, in a strategic move to enhance the brand’s reach and impact. The exact financial terms remain undisclosed, and the former CFO and COO of Spiritual Gangster, Lambros Piscopos, will take the helm as CEO post-acquisition. Established in 2008 by yoga instructors Vanessa Lee and Ian Lopatin, Spiritual Gangster has evolved into a global lifestyle brand, renowned for its «high vibration» apparel for both men and women. With distribution through its e-commerce platform and 200 global wholesale partners, the brand has garnered a loyal customer base. Unified Commerce Group aims to leverage its resources and leadership to elevate Spiritual Gangster’s brand message, fostering growth in both domestic and international markets. Dustin Jones, CEO and co-founder of Unified Commerce Group, expressed confidence in the brand’s untapped potential, citing its unique lifestyle positioning and product mix. Unified Commerce Group, founded in 2019, initially served as a platform for scaling purpose-driven lifestyle apparel brands through shared services and data-driven insights. The acquisition follows the group’s successful transformation of Canadian fashion brand Frank and Oak into a multi-channel retailer from a subscription-based model in 2020.
