The industrial price index (IPRI) of the textile industry in Spain rose by 11.3% year-on-year in April, while its monthly variation advanced by 0.7%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE). Thus, so far this year, it accumulates an increase of 7%.

Meanwhile, the IPRI of garment manufacturing increased by 3.1 % in the fourth month of the year compared to the same period of 2021, while its monthly rate grew by 0.4 %.

Likewise, the IPRI of the leather and footwear industry expanded by 1.8 % year-on-year in April, while its monthly variation expanded by 0.1%.

On the other hand, the annual variation of the general IPRI in April rose to 45%, i.e. two points below that of March. Among the sectors that have a negative influence on this result is the energy sector, with a drop in electricity prices.

In addition, the monthly rate of the general IPRI increased by 1.6%.

The IPRI is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution of the prices of industrial products manufactured and sold in the Spanish market in the first step of their commercialization. These sales prices are ex-works, without taking into account transport and marketing costs and invoiced VAT.
