Virgil Abloh Securities, a creative firm founded by the late American designer, has announced the appointment of Shannon Abloh as CEO and managing director of the organization.
Virgil Abloh Securities is committed to spreading Abloh’s spirit and teachings. The organization spans a number of disciplines including art, architecture, engineering, creative direction, art direction, industrial design, fashion design, music, film, writing and philanthropy.
In her new role, Shannon will lead the company and is expected to launch a number of initiatives and efforts in the coming years, which were initially spearheaded by her late husband Virgil Abloh. In particular, a philanthropic institution will be launched in support of diversity and inclusion of diverse talent in the creative industries.
Virgil Abloh passed away last November 28 from cancer after privately battling the disease for several years. Abloh had been the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton since March 2018 and founder of luxury streetwear brand Off-White.
Since his passing, Abloh has been celebrated in a number of ways. In April, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, located in Paris, presented the «Coming of Age» exhibition, created in memory and honor of the designer.
Next month, Louis Vuitton will also launch its Nike Air Force 1 collaboration, designed by Abloh himself. The 47 editions of Abloh’s AF1s will star in an exhibition, which will once again pay tribute to the late Abloh’s legacy, while sharing the know-how behind each creation.
