Sandrine Conseiller Named CEO of De Beers Brands

De Beers, the prominent South African diamond conglomerate, has appointed Sandrine Conseiller as the Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Brands. This division oversees De Beers Jewellers and De Beers Forevermark. Conseiller takes the helm following Marc Jacheet, a seasoned luxury industry executive with prior roles at LVMH and Tiffany, who led the division since January 2022.

In a strategic move, De Beers has selected a fresh executive profile to oversee its brands and consumer relationships. Hailing from France, Sandrine Conseiller brings extensive experience in the consumer goods sector and a transition to the world of fashion.

Conseiller’s role as CEO of De Beers Brands commences on December 1, and she will also join the group’s executive committee. Her responsibilities include driving the growth of the group’s brands and managing investments in both new and existing consumer markets for diamonds, as per De Beers’ official statement.

A graduate of the Reims Neoma Business School in France, Conseiller joins De Beers following an eight-year tenure at the MF Brands Group, owned by Swiss firm Maus Frères. Her journey within the group began in 2015 when she assumed the role of Vice-President in charge of marketing at Lacoste, eventually ascending to the position of CEO at boot-maker Aigle in mid-2019.

Before her time at MF Brands, Sandrine Conseiller dedicated most of her career to Unilever, an Anglo-Dutch giant. Her expertise in consumer brands in the beauty and haircare sectors led to her promotion from brand manager to marketing manager, first in the French market and later in Asia, where she shouldered increasingly significant managerial responsibilities.

Al Cook, CEO of De Beers Group for the past year, expressed his enthusiasm about Conseiller’s appointment, saying, «Her track record as a leader of iconic brands speaks for itself. She has consistently driven transformation and growth. But I am even more impressed by her passion and values. Sandrine is joining De Beers at an exciting time, as we are expanding the value of our 135-year-old brand.»

Conseiller’s appointment marks a significant milestone for De Beers, a group employing 20,000 people globally and actively engaged in diamond extraction, commercialization, and the development of jewelry brands. Over the last year, De Beers has navigated sourcing challenges, primarily linked to the Ukrainian conflict and sanctions impacting the export of Russian diamonds.
