Through a two-year Re:Suede experiment, Puma successfully converts an experimental iteration of its classic Suede sneaker into compost, following specific industrial conditions. The Re:Suede shoes, featuring Zeology tanned suede, a TPE outsole, and hemp fibers, underwent a six-month wear test before being composted in a specially equipped industrial facility. Puma plans to share detailed insights from this experiment, refine the comfort of future versions based on user feedback, and introduce a commercial version of Re:Suede with a takeback scheme by 2024, demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility.
