Nike Inc. makes a strategic move by bringing on board Muge Erdirik Dogan, a seasoned Amazon.com Inc. fashion executive, as its new Chief Technology Officer, as disclosed in an internal email reviewed by Bloomberg.
In endorsing Dogan’s capabilities, Nike CEO John Donahoe stated, “With Muge’s deep understanding of how technology can accelerate innovation, scale processes, increase efficiency, and ultimately drive growth, I’m confident her experience and leadership will help us capitalize on the opportunity ahead while keeping the athlete and consumer at the center.”
Dogan, with 16 years of diverse roles at Amazon, including President of Amazon Fashion since 2021, joins Nike at a pivotal moment. Her appointment follows Amazon’s recent announcement of closing its Amazon Style locations, two brick-and-mortar clothing stores in California and Ohio launched in 2022.
As Nike strategically shifts towards direct-to-consumer online sales, Dogan’s expertise is poised to drive technology-driven innovation within the company. For inquiries, Nike has not immediately responded to requests for comment.
