In the first quarter of its fiscal year 2022, Alpargatas, the Brazilian group specialized in footwear and owner, among others, of Havaianas sandals, recorded sales of 927.2 million reais (178 million euros), 9% more than in the same period of 2021. On its own, Havaianas achieved sales of 908.2 million reais (174 million euros).
Havaianas International sales, i.e. sales outside Brazil, reached 342 million reais (65.5 million euros), an increase of 17%.
In the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, Havaianas sales increased by 25%. Wholesale sales were up 28 % to 85 million reais (16.29 million euros).
Havaianas also benefited from the development of its brand network. At the end of the first half of 2022, the sandal brand had 353 mono-brand stores, up from 239 in the same period last year.
«Havaianas’ new strategy of establishing itself in cities and urban centers has visibly paid off, and the community of ‘Havalovers,’ followers of the brand, is growing at a good pace. The unexpected success of the collaboration with iconic Italian brand Vibram proves it. Everything sold out in just 24 hours of online sales,» the brand explained in a press release.
In terms of sales volume, Havaianas sold 56 million pairs in the first quarter of 2022. Internationally, 8.9 million pairs were sold, 11% more than in Q1 2021. The largest volume increase was recorded in China, up 40 % year-on-year. Finally, in Europe, sales volumes increased by 20%.
