During the bustling Paris Fashion Week, Mugler took center stage, unveiling its latest collection in a mesmerizing presentation that left attendees in awe.
While Casablanca had opted for the underground allure of the Carrousel du Louvre to showcase its Nigeria-inspired collection the previous Sunday, Mugler returned to the same venue, creating a buzz of anticipation around the iconic museum. The scene was filled with hundreds of eager onlookers, devoted fans, and even intrigued tourists, reminiscent of scenes from the popular series «Emily in Paris.»
The star-studded front row boasted celebrities such as singer Karol G, rapper Tyga, supermodel Ashley Graham, and socialites Nicky Hilton and Lisa Rinna. Although the show began nearly an hour behind schedule, the audience was plunged into complete darkness before the backdrop screen intermittently lit up with flashes. Colossal fans swept air across the pristine white catwalk, and powerful electronic music set the mood.
This opulent spectacle earned enthusiastic applause and exclamations of awe from the audience, who cheered on the models with fervent «wows» and «ohhs.» Attendees were completely immersed in the experience and eagerly captured every moment on video to share across their social media platforms.
The anticipation was justified as Mugler spared no effort to deliver a memorable show. The collection exuded extreme sensuality, offering fresh interpretations of the provocative concepts that have defined the brand. Bold and audacious silhouettes, featuring transparent plastic corsets, high-waisted bodysuits, deconstructed tailored jumpsuits with strategic openings paired with thigh-high boots, asymmetric black minidresses, and transparent gowns adorned with plastic appliqués that created a visually striking effect, graced the runway.
A recurring theme throughout the collection was the inclusion of exceptionally long layers and trains made of jersey cotton, creating an illusion of infinite looks, thanks to strategically placed fans. Oversized veils were also showcased, artfully tied into the models’ hair or gracefully concealing their faces, adding an element of mystique to the confident and powerful women who graced the runway.
Mugler elevated the show with a star-studded cast, including pop culture icon Paris Hilton, acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, and supermodels like Irina Shayk, Helena Christensen, Amber Valletta, Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve, and Mariacarla Boscono. Casey Cadwallader, the visionary behind the collection, expressed his delight in securing these remarkable women to showcase the distinctive Mugler look.
Cadwallader revealed his creative inspiration, drawing from the underwater world, including the shapes of jellyfish and octopuses, as well as the gradient colors of fish. This allowed him to contrast structured tailoring, which he is passionate about, with more fluid forms, all crafted from fluid and technical fabrics that elegantly hugged the body’s contours.
«I think Mugler is always about drama,» Cadwallader concluded, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to continuously reinventing expressions of power and grace.
