Discover sophistication at its finest as Jil Sander debuts its flagship store at 134 Bond Street, London. Elevating the luxury shopping scene in the West End, this addition signifies a remarkable chapter in Jil Sander’s storied legacy.
Why London? For Jil Sander, the city represents a dynamic blend of modern creativity, where life, art, and diverse cultures converge in an ever-evolving tapestry.
In collaboration with international architecture firm Casper Muller Kneer, this space is meticulously crafted to offer an intimate journey into the Jil Sander world. Designed by Lucie and Luke Meier, the store reflects their commitment to architectural balance and durable environments.
Immerse yourself in a masterpiece «carved out of stone,» featuring silver-blue travertine for floors, walls, and a striking staircase. The rough-honed or scored texture creates mineral, geological surfaces, providing an ideal canvas for Jil Sander’s minimalist fashion approach.
The store aims to create a welcoming atmosphere, transcending mere architecture. Lucie and Luke Meier express the desire to provide visitors with a unique experience, saying, “We want to offer those who enter our world a series of devices that they can combine to be who they want to be.”
Beyond geological aesthetics, lighting is pivotal, resembling an artist’s studio with soft natural light creating an intimate setting. Sustainability meets aesthetics with the incorporation of timber, brass, and recycled CD covers in the furniture.
A standout feature is the staircase, inspired by Carlo Scarpa, intersecting square slabs of travertine and adding dynamic movement. The brass balustrade filters light, creating a natural luminescence.
Recent Bond Street openings, including Swaine, Gucci, and Aquazzura, have set the stage for luxury. Joining this elite lineup, Jil Sander brings a touch of architectural finesse to fashion.
