Japanese brand Uniqlo opens first store in Luxembourg

Uniqlo, the globally renowned Japanese apparel brand, proudly unveiled its inaugural store in the heart of Luxembourg, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion across the Benelux region. Located at Grand Rue 22 in Luxembourg City, this opening marks Uniqlo’s sixth establishment in this thriving area. The brand has forged valuable partnerships with local creative talents and institutions to celebrate the grand opening and create meaningful connections within the community.

Following Uniqlo’s tradition of collaborating with prestigious global art institutions like MoMA in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Louvre in Paris, Uniqlo Grand-Rue is thrilled to join forces with Musée d’art moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Mudam). Mudam’s mission is to collect and preserve contemporary art while making it accessible to all. Through this partnership, Uniqlo customers gain access to an exclusive Mudam-curated reading area within the heart of the new store, regularly refreshed with selections from Luxembourg’s talented artists and designers.

Another remarkable collaboration showcased in the store is with renowned furniture designer Julie Conrad. For the Uniqlo Grand-Rue store, Julie Conrad has masterfully designed the reading area and a collection of Loom Chairs featured throughout the store. These Loom Chairs feature a sleek wooden frame and a textile seat, created in collaboration with local craftsman Norbert Brakonier. Each seat is expertly woven from recycled clothing contributed by customers as part of the Re.Uniqlo initiative.

Uniqlo Grand Rue opens its doors with the Re.Uniqlo Studio, a dedicated space committed to redefining the future of clothing. Here, customers can access services for recycling, repairing, and reinventing their Uniqlo LifeWear items. Uniqlo has already introduced Re.Uniqlo Studios across various European markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Denmark. These innovative spaces are also present in Uniqlo stores worldwide, including the United States, Japan, and Singapore.

Kaman Leung, Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo Benelux, expressed their enthusiasm, saying, «We are delighted to introduce our first Uniqlo store to the vibrant Ville-Haute quarter of Luxembourg City. We eagerly anticipate sharing our LifeWear concept with the local residents, ‘frontaliers,’ and the diverse array of visitors in this dynamic and cosmopolitan city. Uniqlo’s values of simplicity, quality, and longevity, designed to enhance people’s lives, will now be accessible right here in Luxembourg.»
