In 2022, David Beckham’s business empire continued its remarkable ascent, registering substantial growth

Despite Victoria Beckham’s fashion label narrowing its losses, the overall outlook for the Beckham brand remains robust.

Recent filings unveil positive strides for Victoria Beckham’s brand, witnessing a reduction in operating losses to £0.9 million from £3.9 million. Pre-tax losses also diminished to £3.1 million from £5.9 million the previous year. Boasting a 44% surge in sales, reaching £58.8 million, the brand capitalized on the popularity of beauty products and the success of the Paris Fashion Week show.

However, sustained growth necessitates ongoing cash injections, with shareholders injecting nearly £7 million in loans over the last year. Key investors include the Beckhams, Simon Fuller (former Spice Girls manager), and private equity firm Neo Investment Partners.

Simultaneously, David Beckham’s business achieved outstanding growth, more than doubling its revenue in 2022. Fueled by lucrative licensing deals and partnerships with notable brands like Sands, Maserati, Panini, and Guild eSports, revenue soared from £34.3 million in 2021 to an impressive £72.6 million.

The majority of this revenue originated from high-profile brand partnerships and licensing deals, notably Beckham’s ambassadorial role for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Operating profit increased to £21.9 million from £16 million, with pre-tax profit dipping slightly to £10.8 million from £23.5 million, attributed to administrative expenses.

These accounts emphasize the enduring appeal of the Beckham brand, transcending his footballing legacy. The business empire now spans into esports, featuring his co-founded MLS football team Inter Miami CF, and various media interests, including a successful Netflix documentary series that bolstered profits last year.

Managed through DB Ventures, Beckham strategically sold a majority stake to Authentic Brands, renowned for its acquisitions of Reebok, Hunter, and Ted Baker.
