Gucci took center stage in Los Angeles as Sabato De Sarno, the creative director, unveiled a groundbreaking collection at the «Art + Film» charity gala hosted by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on November 4. As the main sponsor of the event, Gucci showcased the artistic vision of Sabato De Sarno, featuring both women’s and men’s evening attire.
Attended by A-list celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Billie Eilish, and more, the event provided the perfect platform for the debut of «Gucci Ancora Notte.» This capsule collection, comprised of 12 sophisticated evening looks for women, captivated with its blend of opulence and minimalist style.
The collection featured intricately embellished designs such as a draped silver lamé dress, a lace and sequin ensemble, and silk creations adorned with crystals and gemstones, drawing inspiration from Gucci’s iconic 1950s minaudières. The majority of outfits embraced a chic minimalist style, with monochromatic themes dominating the long, flowing satin or silk crepe dresses.
A highlight of the collection was the nod to the 1990s with daring sky-high side slits, revealing micro-sequin shorts underneath. This signature element from the women’s spring-summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection, Ancora, unveiled in Milan last September, underscored De Sarno’s innovative design approach.
On the men’s front, De Sarno presented traditional tuxedos with classic Italian cuts reminiscent of the 1990s, alongside festive suits adorned with stripes and monochromatic sets. Bordeaux tones, a hallmark of the Ancora collection, featured prominently. Notably, three-piece suits in white or pale pink were introduced, designed to be worn without a shirt underneath for a contemporary edge.
De Sarno’s evening silhouettes reflect his sexy-chic, minimalist aesthetic and ambition to redefine the boundaries between casual and evening wear. Gucci Ancora Notte marks a bold step in the evolution of luxury fashion under his creative direction, setting the stage for a new era in Gucci’s design narrative.
