American fashion designer Alexander Wang faces fresh sexual assault allegations as a New York student, Keaton Bullen from Parsons School of Design, accused him of assault in a nightclub in August 2019. Wang’s fashion label has not responded to AFP’s request for comment.
Attorney Lisa Bloom, a specialist in harassment and sexual assault cases, represents 11 men who claim to be victims of Wang. While no formal charges or civil claims have been filed, they haven’t ruled out pursuing legal action.
In December, British model Owen Mooney accused Wang of groping him in January 2017, and trans model Gia Garrison shared a similar experience from February 2017.
Wang vehemently denied these allegations, calling them «lies» in a statement earlier this year. The designer has been a prominent figure in the fashion world, known for integrating sportswear into high-end ready-to-wear clothing.
These allegations are part of a broader trend in the fashion industry, with various personalities facing accusations of sexual harassment or assault since the #MeToo movement gained momentum in 2017. Figures like Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber, and Mario Testino have faced professional repercussions due to allegations of sexual misconduct, all of which they deny. In June 2018, Paul Marciano resigned as CEO of Guess following allegations of sexual assault.
