Bleu Royal Diamond Shines in Exclusive Geneva Jewels Auction

Prepare for a historic moment as the Bleu Royal diamond takes the spotlight, aiming to become one of Christie’s most expensive auctioned diamonds. Headlining a series of auctions in Geneva alongside iconic movie memorabilia, this exceptionally rare 17.61-carat gem is set to break records.

As the largest internally flawless fancy vivid blue diamond ever offered at auction, the Bleu Royal is expected to fetch between $35 million and $50 million in Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction. Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s international head of jewellery, anticipates it will secure a spot among the top 10 jewels ever sold by Christie’s in terms of value.

The diamond, residing in a private collection for five decades, boasts an unmodified cut that enhances its natural color. This classic brilliant faceting style, chosen due to the richness of the rough material, sets the Bleu Royal in a class of its own.

Fancy vivid blue diamonds exceeding 10 carats are extraordinarily rare, with only three such stones appearing at Christie’s since its inception in 1766. Notable predecessors include the Bulgari Blue, the Winston Blue, and the Oppenheimer Blue, all contributing to the market’s appreciation for these exceptional jewels.

In addition to the Bleu Royal, the auction features an online sale until November 16, showcasing movie memorabilia such as Audrey Hepburn’s pearl necklace from «Roman Holiday.» The Passion for Time watches sale includes Marlon Brando’s circa 1972 Rolex GMT-Master, hand-engraved during the filming of «Apocalypse Now.»

As the Bleu Royal prepares to make history, this auction is not just a transaction but an exploration of the allure of rare gems and cinematic history. Join us in this exclusive event, where luxury and legacy converge in the heart of Geneva’s jewels market.
