Bestseller, the driving force behind Jack & Jones, is making waves in fashion logistics with a groundbreaking investment in automation. Teaming up with Knapp, an automation expert, the Danish fashion group is set to establish a state-of-the-art processing center in the Netherlands by the end of 2026.
Situated in Lelystad, just 60 km east of Amsterdam, the expansive 155,000 sq m logistics hub is set to be a beacon of innovation. Boasting over 1,400 AI-powered robots, this technological marvel is expected to handle more than 20,000 retrievals per hour—a leap beyond industry standards.
These robots, driven by cutting-edge AI technology, are not replacing but complementing the human touch. Bestseller envisions a collaborative workspace where 600 colleagues will seamlessly work with robots, reducing the need for repetitive manual labor and optimizing efficiency.
«Allowing technology to augment human capabilities, our aim is to craft one of the most advanced and automated logistics centers in the fashion industry and Europe,» remarks Allan Kyhe Kjærgaard, Logistics Director at Bestseller. This substantial investment in technology is set to optimize the efficiency of the center, streamlining product distribution to retail customers in their largest markets.
Franz Mathi, Chief Operations Officer of Knapp, expresses confidence in the transformative impact of their collaboration, stating, «The innovative approaches we are pursuing with our technology as a value chain partner will offer Bestseller better advantages along their supply chain. The one-touch and low-complexity concept represents a milestone in logistics center development.»
