White Stuff, the well-known lifestyle brand, is embarking on an exciting partnership that reimagines the way we handle unwanted clothing. This collaborative effort, available both in White Stuff’s physical stores and online, presents an eco-conscious solution for consumers to easily donate and resell their preloved apparel.
As part of this initiative, customers can acquire a co-branded Thrift+ bag for a mere 10p. This bag becomes the portal for breathing new life into garments from any brand by sending them to Thrift+. What makes this partnership unique is that the proceeds generated from the sale of these bags will be channeled to support the White Stuff Foundation, furthering charitable causes.
What’s particularly enticing for consumers is the incentive they receive. Upon sending their old clothing to Thrift+, they will receive a £10 discount on their next White Stuff purchase, provided it totals over £30, upon Thrift+ receiving their bag. Additionally, as their items find new homes and are sold through Thrift+, they accumulate credits. These credits can be utilized to acquire other pre-owned clothing items available on Thrift+, or they can be directed toward charitable endeavors.
White Stuff’s CEO, Jo Jenkins, emphasized the environmental significance of this partnership, stating, «Our collaboration with Thrift+ is a crucial component of our ongoing commitment to minimizing our environmental footprint. We hope that customers find this to be a simple and rewarding way to give a new lease of life to their old clothes.»
Notably, this partnership aligns with a broader industry trend. Coincidentally, Burberry has recently forged a partnership with Vestiaire Collective on a resale initiative. These collaborations underscore the growing importance of sustainability-focused programs across various price points and the thriving pre-owned clothing sector.
White Stuff has enjoyed a vibrant year. In January, it reported a stellar Christmas season in 2022, with sales for November and December witnessing a remarkable 16% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, the brand has expanded its footprint by opening new stores. Notably, it made its debut in Glasgow’s Silverburn mall during the spring and unveiled a flagship store in Edinburgh this summer. These expansions have increased the total number of White Stuff stores to nearly 120 across the UK.
