Denver, October 25, 2023 – VF Corporation, a global leader in the apparel and footwear industry, is delighted to announce the addition of Trevor Edwards to its board of directors, effective from October 22. Trevor Edwards, an esteemed marketing and global brand veteran, brings over 25 years of invaluable experience to VF’s leadership team.
During his impressive career, Trevor Edwards served as the President of Nike, Inc. from 2013 to 2018, reporting directly to the CEO. His role encompassed leadership across geographic regions, category business, direct-to-consumer units, product and merchandising divisions, global marketing, sales, and digital technology. Edwards played a pivotal role in Nike’s growth and success during his tenure.
Edwards’ illustrious journey at Nike spanned from 1992 to 2013, during which he held various leadership positions, including EVP of Global Brand and Category Management, Chief Marketing Officer, Vice President of Marketing (US), and Vice President of Marketing (EMEA).
Trevor Edwards initiated his corporate career at Colgate Palmolive in 1986 and progressively took on roles of increasing responsibility, including Global Business Development Manager. In addition to his role at VF Corp., he currently serves on the board of directors of Funko Inc. and has previously contributed to Mattel Inc.’s board. Moreover, he provides strategic advisory services to direct-to-consumer brands and investment firms.
As a member of VF Corp.’s board, Trevor Edwards will also actively participate in the U.S. apparel and footwear company’s Talent and Compensation Committee and the Governance and Corporate Responsibility Committee.
VF Corporation’s Chairman of the Board, Richard Carucci, expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, saying, «We are thrilled to welcome Trevor to our board. His extensive experience in the apparel and footwear industry will be of immense value to VF as we strengthen our brand connections with consumers, enhance product innovation, and improve operational efficiency. Trevor’s appointment reinforces our commitment to diverse perspectives and expertise within our board.»
Trevor Edwards’ appointment follows VF Corp.’s recent engagement with activist investor Engaged Capital, which urged the company to explore divestitures as a strategy for reducing debt. Engaged Capital recommended that VF Corp. hire advisors to review potential non-core divestitures and publicly commit to no further acquisitions, as reported by Reuters. VF Corp., known for its ownership of brands like Vans and Supreme, has grappled with supply chain challenges and the evolving landscape of brand relevance, challenges shared by many apparel makers in recent years. The company, which also oversees brands such as The North Face and Dickies, welcomed a new CEO in June to address soft sales growth.
