Vestiaire Collective, a prominent platform for second-hand fashion and luxury items, has introduced Lauren Picciano as the Head of Global Communications. Situated in New York, Picciano will work in close collaboration with Vestiaire Collective’s CEO, Maximilian Bittner, who recently relocated to the city after overseeing the company’s operations from Paris for five years.
In her capacity, Picciano will directly report to Marie-Christin Oebel, Vestiaire Collective’s Global Head of Marketing. Her mandate encompasses the supervision of the brand’s communication strategy, management of media and corporate relations, and the enhancement of the website’s appeal to consumers.
Lauren Picciano brings a wealth of experience to Vestiaire Collective, with an illustrious career that includes tenures at prestigious institutions such as Saks and Bergdorf Goodman. She has also lent her expertise to renowned companies like Adidas, Sixty, Highline United, La Perla, and Hearst Magazines, the publisher of celebrated magazines such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Harper’s Bazaar.
Marie-Christin Oebel, Global Head of Marketing at Vestiaire Collective, expressed enthusiasm for Picciano’s appointment, emphasizing her extensive knowledge and experience in the luxury fashion market. Oebel underscored that Picciano’s role is instrumental in expanding Vestiaire Collective’s brand awareness and global impact, not only in North America but also on an international scale.
Established in 2009, Vestiaire Collective boasts a global presence, with operational hubs in London, Berlin, New York, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hong Kong, along with strategically located warehouses in Tourcoing (France), Crowley (UK), Hong Kong, and New York.
CEO Maximilian Bittner’s recent move to New York underscores the company’s dedication to prioritizing US consumers at the forefront of its strategic focus. Vestiaire Collective’s remarkable growth has resulted in a valuation exceeding €1 billion, positioning it as a prominent leader in the global fashion resale market.
The platform serves customers in 80 countries and expanded its global reach through the acquisition of US e-tailer Tradesy in early 2022. Vestiaire Collective’s trajectory of growth was further catalyzed by substantial funding rounds in 2021, including the backing of luxury giant Kering in February and a successful €178 million fundraising endeavor in September of the same year.
