JOOR Reports Rapid Growth in Unisex Fashion Category
JOOR, the digital wholesale specialist, has unveiled remarkable growth in the unisex fashion category, also known as gender-neutral fashion. This emerging trend is gaining substantial momentum in the fashion industry.
JOOR’s extensive catalog spans multiple categories, including Men’s, Women’s, Unisex, Girls, Boys, Baby, and Home products, representing over 14,000 fashion brands. What stands out is the impressive growth in the Unisex category, which has experienced an astonishing 46% year-on-year surge during the first half of 2023.
Over the past five years, JOOR has witnessed a consistent increase in retailer investment in Unisex fashion. Wholesale transaction volume in this category has skyrocketed, growing more than 11 times from H1 2019 to the first half of this year. Equally noteworthy, the number of brands offering gender-neutral styles has expanded by an impressive 40% over the same period.
These statistics underscore a compelling shift in the fashion landscape. JOOR’s substantial presence as a wholesale platform, with 600,000 curated fashion buyers across 150 countries, reinforces the significance of this trend.
Delving deeper, the most substantial growth has been observed in the Handbags & Accessories sub-category, with an impressive 69% increase over the period. This indicates that consumers are increasingly drawn to gender-neutral options, such as backpacks, messengers, cross-bodies, and totes, in addition to ‘It’ bags and mini bags.
In the domain of gender-neutral Apparel, growth has reached 28%, while Footwear has seen a commendable rise of 25%.
While this trend is global in scope, it is most pronounced in the EMEA region, where Unisex fashion has witnessed a remarkable 64% growth. South America closely follows with 54% growth, North America is nearly on par at 53%, but APAC lags behind at 24%.
With insights into post-first-half orders, JOOR CEO Kristin Savilia confidently predicts that the demand for genderless fashion is expected to «remain robust in the future.»
