In a continuation of its commitment to preserving Italian heritage, Tod’s, the renowned Italian footwear brand, announces its sponsorship of the restoration of Milan’s historic Palazzo Marino. This initiative follows Tod’s significant contribution of 25 million euros to the restoration of the Colosseum in 2021, showcasing the brand’s dedication to cultural preservation.
Palazzo Marino, constructed in the 15th century by architect Galeazzo Alessi, has been the seat of Milan’s municipal administration since 1861. Winning the bid against three competing firms, Tod’s restoration project covers exterior facades and internal courtyard structures, including porticoes and loggias. Located prominently at Piazza della Scala, facing Milan’s opera house, this architectural gem will undergo extensive restoration, encompassing over 5,345 square meters of facades, with an estimated project cost exceeding 2.5 million euros.
Diego Della Valle, Tod’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the project during a conference at the brand’s Milan headquarters. «We are delighted to support this significant project and restore Palazzo Marino to its former splendor. Collaboration between the public and private sectors is crucial, and as entrepreneurs, we extend our role beyond commercial activities.»
Emphasizing Tod’s commitment to societal contribution, Della Valle stated, «In the current economic climate, the corporate world must engage in meaningful projects. It’s not just about criticizing; it’s about taking action to address societal needs.» He urged fellow entrepreneurs to participate in necessary projects, underlining the global promotion of ‘Made in Italy’ as a collective responsibility.
Tod’s notable history of intervention includes establishing a new factory in Arquata del Tronto after the earthquake in 2016, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to aiding communities in times of need. Explore Tod’s ongoing initiatives for cultural preservation and heritage restoration.
