Woolrich has made waves with the appointment of Todd Snyder, a prominent US designer, as the Creative Director for the Woolrich Black Label line. Known for founding his eponymous New York-based label, Snyder is set to showcase his expertise at the upcoming Pitti Uomo’s Designer Showcase. Under the new banner, «Woolrich Black Label by Todd Snyder,» he will curate the styles for Woolrich’s Heritage and Technical collections. This transition coincides with Andrea Cané, Woolrich’s longstanding creative director, taking on the role of Creative Advisor.
Snyder’s collaboration extends across Woolrich’s design teams in Italy, Japan, and the USA. The Heritage collection will spotlight luxurious upgrades to iconic Woolrich items, including a cashmere version of the Buffalo Check Shirt and a reimagined Arctic Parka. Simultaneously, the Technical collection will integrate cutting-edge design with high-performance materials, adding a sartorial touch.
The debut of Snyder’s collection for Woolrich Black Label is scheduled for Fall/Winter 2024. The first glimpse will be at his runway show on January 9 at Pitti Uomo 105, with the full unveiling set for Milan Fashion Week.
Expressing his excitement, Snyder stated, “I consistently seek to work with the best, and Woolrich is a prime example of a company with deep roots. My hope is to usher in the next era for Woolrich and extend their legacy well into the future.”
Andrea Cané voiced confidence in Snyder, stating, “He understands the true meaning of authenticity in design matrices, materials, and taste. I am confident that Todd will continue to handle Woolrich with care, innovating it with integrity and pride.”
While taking on the role at Woolrich, Snyder will maintain his position as the Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of Todd Snyder New York, a label wholly owned by AEO Inc. With 12 years in the business and plans to operate 17 monobrand stores across the USA by 2024, Todd Snyder has established itself through directional shows, collaborations with names like L.L.Bean, Champion, Converse, Timex, and New Balance.
Stefano Saccone, CEO of Woolrich, emphasized the natural fit of partnering with Todd, given his unique talent in creating an aesthetic that embodies modern American style. With nearly 200 years of heritage, Woolrich continues to be a source of creative inspiration.
Over the past three years, Woolrich has consistently achieved impressive double-digit growth rates, up to 20%. Acquired by Luxembourg-based investment fund L-Gam in 2018, Woolrich’s global presence includes distribution through 40 monobrand stores and over 1,000 select multibrand retailers.
