Skechers, a renowned footwear brand, is venturing into the world of basketball with its exciting debut line of basketball shoes.
The Skechers basketball collection introduces two distinctive mid-top styles, the SKX Resagrip and SKX Float, which seamlessly blend innovative technologies with Skechers’ hallmark comfort, promising a game-changing experience for athletes.
The SKX Resagrip caters to players seeking top-speed maneuverability. It boasts Goodyear Resagrip Technology, featuring a unique outsole configuration that enhances grip and agility.
On the other hand, the SKX Float incorporates strategically-placed TPU to secure the foot and a lightweight Swirl Tech design for flexibility and court feel. Both styles integrate Skechers Hyper Burst cushioning in the midsole and a Hyper Burst Pro sockliner for enhanced comfort.
Expect additional color variations for these shoes to be released later this fall, with low-top versions of both styles scheduled to hit the market in spring 2024.
This collection kicks off with a collaboration with two NBA stars, Julius Randle of the New York Knicks and Terance Mann of the Los Angeles Clippers. They are set to become the first professional athletes to lace up in Skechers Basketball shoes and will represent the performance footwear brand in various campaigns.
Greg Smith, VP of product development and merchandising for Skechers Performance, stated, «By leveraging the insights and feedback from pros like Julius Randle and Terance Mann, we are solidifying our position as a leading performance brand in basketball. Our entry into the sport is backed by innovative features and designs for athletes of every style and playing location.»
In addition to the basketball venture, Skechers boasts a team of elite athletes across various sports, including FC Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, golfers Matt Fitzpatrick and Brooke Henderson, pickleball pros Tyson McGuffin and Catherine Parenteau, and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers, emphasized the brand’s commitment to basketball and its growth strategy: «This marks the beginning of our long-term investment in basketball, with more player partnerships on the horizon. We are launching in the three largest standalone basketball markets—the U.S., China, and the Philippines—with plans for further expansion in the future.»
The Skechers basketball footwear collection will be available starting next week on skechersbasketball.com and at select Skechers retail stores in North America. It will also be accessible in select retailers and Skechers stores in the Philippines and China.
