Shiseido Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) are taking an innovative approach to attract fresh talent by inviting individuals to explore their European factories. On Thursday, November 16 and 23, the renowned Japanese cosmetics group is hosting open days at its Gien and Ormes factories, both situated in the Loiret region, nestled within Cosmetic Valley*.
During these open days, Shiseido aims to showcase the diverse professions and unique expertise that define their operations. Most importantly, participants who express interest will have the opportunity to submit their CVs and engage in discussions about potential job openings with the Shiseido teams.
The Gien and Ormes plants, established in 1991 and 1998, play a crucial role in manufacturing cosmetics for the group’s perfume and skincare brands. These brands encompass prestigious names like Shiseido, Ulé, Narciso Rodriguez, Issey Miyake, and Serge Lutens. Collectively, these two facilities produce an impressive 50 million units annually.
In May 2021, Shiseido’s European subsidiary faced challenges due to the health crisis and introduced a job-saving plan, which involved reducing 222 positions out of 1,500 in France. Of these job reductions, 68 were associated with the two Loiret plants. However, in 2022, the group’s sales surged by 5.7%, reaching 1,067 billion yen (€7.5 billion). Despite this growth, the net profit did decrease by 27.1% to 34.2 billion yen.
The cosmetics sector in France is a thriving industry, featuring 3,200 companies and providing employment to more than 250,000 individuals.
*Note: The open days are scheduled for Thursday, November 16 in Gien and Thursday, November 23 in Ormes. Registration is required by October 27 to participate in this unique opportunity.
