Printemps Group Enhances Management Team with Key Appointments

French department store group Printemps has made strategic changes to its management team, signaling a new era for the renowned brand. The company, owned by the Qatari investment fund Disa, is known for its upscale retail presence with 20 Printemps branches in France, one in Qatar, and nine Citadium stores. Additionally, a Printemps department store is scheduled to open in New York in 2024. Printemps also manages the e-tail sites Place des Tendances and Made in Design.

The first significant appointment is that of Alain Cheung, who has joined as the Managing Director responsible for digital and omni-channel operations. He takes over from Mathieu Staat, who held the position since 2021. Cheung boasts extensive experience in the fashion and retail sectors, dating back to 2011. He has held pivotal roles at renowned brands, including Cléor, Zadig & Voltaire, and Claudie Pierlot, where he served as Head of Digital and CRM.

The second appointment involves Jean Gasnier, who has been promoted to the role of Managing Director of New Business for the entire Printemps group. Previously, Gasnier served as the Head of Marketing, Digital, and Omni-channel Operations at Citadium, a subsidiary of Printemps. His career includes stints at Burberry, the Elite model agency, and La Perla, where he excelled in digital marketing and e-commerce.

These appointments come as Printemps embarks on a new phase after a three-year transformation period. The group’s President, Jean-Marc Bellaiche, emphasized the significance of these appointments in driving new growth initiatives and building on the group’s promising ventures.

In addition to these appointments, Printemps witnessed the transition of Maud Funaro, Chief Transformation Officer, to her new role as Operating Director at Parisian private equity firm Wendel during the summer.

Printemps reported strong financial performance, with revenue for the fiscal year from April 2022 to March 2023 nearly matching pre-pandemic levels, experiencing only a 2% decline compared to 2019 but achieving impressive growth of 25% compared to 2021. The group’s commitment to expansion and innovation positions it for continued success in the dynamic retail landscape.

The Printemps group continues to explore collaborations and ventures, with a focus on delivering exceptional retail experiences to its customers.
