Luxury menswear brand Paris Laundry made a stylish entrance into New York with the opening of its flagship store in the trendy Tribeca neighborhood on October 11. The event celebrated founder Guy Samuel’s vision, featuring a special performance by The Zillions and graffiti artist Russell Murphy, who contributed to the store’s windows and customized apparel.
Guy Samuel, the mastermind behind Paris Laundry, expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone: «This opening follows a series of successful pop-up ventures in Atlanta, New York, and The Webster Miami. We initially considered Soho but ultimately chose Tribeca for its authenticity and alignment with the brand’s NYC roots.»
The 800-square-foot space is open to the public from Friday to Sunday, transforming into a showroom and offices from Monday to Thursday. It boasts a basement area for private appointments, fittings, and customizations.
Samuel describes the store’s ambiance as «luxurious without excess.» Drawing inspiration from graffiti culture, the boutique features collections displayed in arch-shaped showcases, Persian rugs, and a curated selection of Samuel’s favorite items, including an old Louis Vuitton trunk, iconic Rick Owens dunks, vintage sunglasses, and unique art pieces.
In addition to its exclusive offerings, the boutique will soon offer customized printing, embroidery, and cut-and-sew services through its Long Island studio.
As for the Paris Laundry Fall Winter 2023 collection, it exudes a genuine New York-inspired aesthetic. The lineup includes workwear shirts, printed sweaters, silk mohair cardigans, and embroidered military jackets. One standout piece is a layered hoodie paired with a cropped tee, a creative reinterpretation of a classic American staple. The brand’s Instagram account offers a sneak peek at the upcoming Paris Laundry Spring/Summer 2024 collection, featuring embroidered denim and oversized cotton hand-knit hoodies.
Paris Laundry maintains a premium positioning, prioritizing sustainable fabrics sourced from Italy, Portugal, and Japan. Most of the production takes place in New York and Los Angeles, with silk pieces produced in Italy and knits in China. The brand’s unisex apparel offerings range from $175 to $1600.
Founder Guy Samuel emphasized their cautious approach to expansion, stating, «We’ll assess this store’s progress before considering duplicating our concept elsewhere. Our first focus is enhancing our model, strengthening our online presence, and responsibly expanding our wholesale business.»
While Paris Laundry currently thrives in the United States, particularly in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, the brand has ambitious plans to venture into Europe next year. Samuel revealed their ongoing discussions with major department stores in Paris, Milan, Rome, and London, as well as plans for pop-up events during key fashion weeks. Additionally, a collaboration with a renowned multibrand store in Los Angeles is in the works, and the brand’s e-shop is set to launch in early November.
