Nike has made a significant move by naming Jason Mayden, former president of Fear of God Athletics, as the Chief Design Officer for the Jordan brand.
In a social media announcement on Instagram, Mayden expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to @jumpman23, where his journey began 23 years ago as the brand’s inaugural design intern.
Mayden boasts an extensive history at Nike from 2001 to 2014, holding key roles such as Senior Global Design Director of Jordan Brand, Director of Innovation, Digital Sport, and Senior Product Designer for footwear, brand, and apparel innovation.
From 2016 to 2020, Mayden served as the CEO and founder of Super Heroic, a direct-to-consumer children’s clothing and footwear startup supported by Foot Locker. Recently, from 2020 to 2022, he held the position of President at Fear of God Athletics, an Adidas-backed venture led by Los Angeles designer Jerry Lorenzo.
In addition to his new role, Mayden will continue to lead Trillicon Valley, a design house established in 2017. He will also uphold his position as a visiting lecturer at USC’s Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy.
Nike welcomes back a seasoned design visionary, positioning itself for an elevated Jordan brand under Mayden’s leadership.
