Luxury e-commerce giant Mytheresa has forged a groundbreaking five-year partnership with DHL to embrace the innovative GoGreen Plus service. Over the next five years, Mytheresa is committing significant funds to this strategic collaboration, marking one of the most substantial investments in DHL Express’ sustainability program across Europe.
The primary focus of this alliance is to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions associated with international shipments. Mytheresa aims to achieve this by integrating sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) instead of traditional jet fuel. This collaboration anticipates a substantial reduction of over 27,000 tons of CO2e emissions linked to Mytheresa’s global shipments, contributing significantly to environmental preservation.
Sebastian Dietzmann, COO of Mytheresa, highlighted the significance of this long-term commitment, stating, «With this largest-ever investment by a company in Europe in DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus program, Mytheresa underlines its extraordinary ESG commitment and offers its luxury customers an even more sustainable shopping experience in the future.»
DHL Express introduced GoGreen Plus last year to advance sustainability in express transportation, relying on partnerships with key suppliers such as bp, Neste, and World Energy, known for producing SAF from alternative raw materials with a sustainable energy profile.
This strategic initiative aligns with DHL Group’s overarching goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, with a specific focus on addressing the carbon footprint associated with its air network, constituting about 90% of the company’s emissions.
John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, expressed enthusiasm about Mytheresa’s commitment, stating, «Mytheresa is committed to working with us to make international express transportation more sustainable. I am delighted that we are able to offer the GoGreen Plus service by using SAF in our international network.»
«Mytheresa is the first and largest e-commerce platform based in Germany to invest in SAF and to invest an impressive figure to make international express deliveries more sustainable. We hope this agreement will inspire others to take action and support the transition to low-emission transport services via sustainable aviation fuel.» Pearson added.
This collaboration follows Mytheresa’s recent opening of a state-of-the-art distribution center at Halle/Leipzig Airport in Germany, supported by a partnership with DHL. As a prominent global luxury e-commerce platform shipping to over 130 countries, Mytheresa continues to prioritize sustainability in its operations.
