In a groundbreaking move for 2024, Manteco, the revered Italian textiles producer rooted in Prato since 1943, has solidified its industry presence with the acquisition of a 100% stake in Casentino Lane. This strategic alliance melds Manteco’s storied legacy with the specialized expertise of Casentino Lane, a distinguished carding spinning specialist nestled in the historic Casentino region of Tuscany—a region lauded for its wool production since the 14th century.
Matteo Mantellassi, joint CEO of Manteco, expresses immense pride in safeguarding the longstanding carding spinning factory. «Our partnership with Casentino Lane spans many years, united by a shared passion for innovation, research, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability and circular practices.»
Beyond ensuring job continuity for Casentino Lane’s 27 skilled workers, the acquisition positions Manteco at the forefront of fabric production by securing control over a pivotal stage. Casentino Lane is poised to contribute an impressive annual yarn output of approximately 700,000 kg, bolstering Manteco’s production capabilities.
«This operation signifies a pivotal milestone, providing access to a premier supplier. However, it marks just the initial step. The expansive factory, covering over 4,000 square meters, will undergo substantial investments in sustainability and innovation,» emphasizes Marco Mantellassi, joint CEO of Manteco.
In the financial realm, Manteco reported a robust revenue of €97 million in 2022—a remarkable 18% growth over the previous year, surpassing its pre-pandemic 2019 figures. With an expansive global footprint, Manteco conducts approximately 80% of its business outside Italy, maintaining a stronghold in Europe, particularly in France, Northern Europe, Spain, and the USA.
This strategic move positions Manteco as a leader in the evolving landscape of the textile industry, poised for continued growth and innovation.
