LVMH has kicked off the application period for the highly anticipated 2024 prize, renowned for spotlighting emerging talent in the fashion industry. Surprisingly, a novel award, the Savoir Faire Prize, has been introduced alongside the existing LVMH Prize and Karl Lagerfeld Prize.
Launched in 2013, the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers invites global applicants aged 18 to 40, having crafted a minimum of two ready-to-wear collections for women, men, or unisex categories.
Delphine Arnault, an instrumental figure in these prestigious awards and an executive at LVMH, expressed excitement for the 11th edition, highlighting the organization’s dedication to a core creative value – savoir-faire. The introduction of the LVMH Savoir Faire Prize aims to celebrate artisanal excellence, innovation in both creation and production, and a more sustainable approach to fashion.
The groundbreaking Savoir Faire Prize signifies LVMH’s inaugural acknowledgment of excellence in craftsmanship, technical innovation in the service of creativity, and sustainability. Beyond recognizing outstanding craftsmanship, the prize also aims to champion the transmission of valuable skills.
Judged by a panel of soon-to-be-revealed experts, the Savoir Faire Prize is a testament to LVMH’s commitment to artisanal excellence.
All three prizes come with substantial rewards. The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers winner receives a €400,000 endowment and personalized mentoring by the LVMH teams. The Karl Lagerfeld Prize winner secures €200,000 and a year of LVMH mentoring. The newly introduced Savoir Faire Prize offers €200,000 along with mentorship.
The LVMH prizes have a notable track record of discovering and promoting young talents, with previous winners including S.S. Daley, Nensi Dojaka, Thebe Magugu, Jacquemus, Rokh, and Hood by Air.
As the 11th edition unfolds, aspiring candidates have until January 7, 2024, to submit their applications on lvmhprize.com. The semi-final is scheduled for February 29 to March 1 during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week for women’s ready-to-wear.
