The Doral Museum of Contemporary Art (DORCAM) will present this Thursday for the second consecutive year in that city of Miami-Dade (USA) an event that combines art and fashion, both on the catwalk and in the exhibition halls, with the participation of Latino avant-garde designers.

Designs by Cuban Celia Ledón and Colombian Angie Cohen will share the catwalk of the Second Fashion Art Extravaganza with the creations of students of the Miami Design Lab -created by the latter- and those of Palomo Balvin, a student of the famous Marangoni Institute.

According to Ledón, the main protagonist of the first Extravaganza with his «Wearable Installations», most of the designs to be seen are made with unorthodox materials and inspired by architecture.

Also to be presented in the public square known as Doral City Place will be the «virtual catwalk» of Karina Ochoa de Baker, a specialist in 3D garments, and a «performance» with masks created by ten plastic artists, according to organizers, who told Efe.

It will be a show with music and DJs in which there will also be live performances by artists.

As part of this artistic celebration, two simultaneous exhibitions will also open their doors at Doral’s CityPlace.

«Fashion Power» is a group exhibition featuring clothing designer Barbara Hulanicki, founder of Biba Shop in London, a mythical place frequented by movie stars and rock musicians such as Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie and many others.

Also participating are Octavio Aguilar -of Puerto Rican origin and known as DopeTavio-, who made it to the top ten in season 19 of the Project Runway program, and Venezuelan Lisu Vega, trained as an experimental graphic designer.

Celia Ledón, trained as an industrial designer, whose creations combine the world of fashion and sculpture, will also participate.

The other exhibition, entitled «Urban Art» and organized in collaboration with art galleries David Rosen and Naif International Gallery, presents works by Marcos Varonese, Jordi Mollá, Domingo Zapata, Angelina Roma, Penny Boyd, Sebastián Castella and Giuseppe Ferlito, among others.
