In a significant move, the renowned Los Angeles boutique, Ron Herman, located at 8100 Melrose Avenue, is preparing to close its flagship store in the coming days. This development comes on the heels of the recent closures of its Malibu and Brentwood branches in November.
Established in 1976 as a specialized boutique within Fred Segal, Ron Herman quickly became the go-to destination for both established and emerging designers. The expansive two-story, 14,000-square-foot Melrose flagship store showcased an impressive collection featuring esteemed names such as Missoni, Lemaire, Acne Studios, Isabel Marant, Stüssy, Phipps, Officine Générale, Coperni, and Dries Van Noten. In addition to its diverse shoe selection, the store recently introduced a dedicated vintage section.
While details about the closure of other stores remain undisclosed, it’s noteworthy that Ron Herman’s parent company, Sazaby League, a Japanese distributor that took over all Ron Herman operations in 2019, continues to oversee the brand’s distribution. Sazaby League manages a vast portfolio comprising retail, fashion, and hospitality brands.
As of now, the Ron Herman boutique in Waikiki, housed within the Moana Surfrider Westin Resort & Spa, and its 20 other boutiques in Japan continue regular operations.
