The women’s fashion company Hug&Clau, part of the Mayoral group, is moving forward with its expansion plan with new openings: it has just opened in the Islazul (Madrid) and Ballonti (Portugalete, Vizcaya) shopping centers and plans to do the same in Almería (Mediterráneo shopping center) at the end of this quarter.
With its latest operations, the brand now has 13 stores in Spain, in addition to its e-commerce. The one in Portugalete, in a 140 square meter store, is the second opening of the brand in Vizcaya. For its part, the new Hug&Clau space in Madrid becomes its flagship store in the capital as it is the largest one.
The brand was founded in 2013 by Carolina García and these openings are part of its retail growth plan for the next three years.
Hug&Clau joined the Mayoral fashion group last September, which announced the purchase of a majority stake in the women’s fashion brand. A few months earlier, the Malaga-based company had closed the acquisition of the men’s Boston brand.
Both operations were carried out with the motivation, on the part of Mayoral, to «expand its operations to other sectors of the fashion industry». The group is immersed in a process of generational handover: Rafael Domínguez de Gor, founder and former president of the holding Indumenta Pueri (parent company of the children’s brand), as well as sole administrator of Mayoral Moda Infantil S.A.U., handed over the baton to his sons, Manuel and Rafael Domínguez de la Maza, last March.
