Gola and Engineered Garments Collaborate to Revive and Modernize the Sentry Model
Gola, the celebrated British heritage sports brand, has joined forces with Engineered Garments to breathe new life into the Sentry, a classic design hailing from Gola’s centenary collection.
Originally unveiled in 2005 and produced in limited quantities during that year, the Sentry model had been relegated to the archives until it caught the eye of Daiki Suzuki, the founder of Engineered Garments, during his quest for heritage trainer options. This rediscovery marks a rekindling of their partnership, promising exciting developments.
The Sentry shoe, distinguished by Gola’s iconic wingflash, seamlessly blends the brand’s timeless detailing with Engineered Garments’ minimalist design philosophy, resulting in what can only be described as a «modernized classic.»
Launching in Autumn/Winter 2023, the Sentry boasts a refined cup sole, sidewall stitching, and a distinct lace and one-bar strap upper. Crafted from sumptuous full-grain leather and plush suede, this combination lends depth and texture to the shoe. Tonal Gola branding in the elegant ‘Made in England’ italic font graces the upper, adding a touch of sophistication. The design is rounded off with the ‘Gola for Engineered Garments’ logo adorning the cushioned leather in-sock.
The Sentry is now available, offering three understated colorways: black, white, and brown, and is offered in sizes ranging from 6 to 12, priced at £240. It can be conveniently purchased on both the Gola and Engineered Garments websites.
This collaboration represents a compelling fusion of heritage and contemporary design, resulting in a footwear collection that resonates with modern sensibilities while paying homage to timeless craftsmanship.
