Crocs, the renowned footwear brand, is making waves with its latest retail takeback pilot program, designed to breathe new life into old shoes. This exciting initiative encourages consumers to visit select Crocs retail stores in ten states, where they can contribute their pre-loved Crocs shoes, ensuring these shoes find a fresh purpose.
As a part of this program, Crocs is actively forging partnerships and driving product innovation to grant every pair of shoes a second chance. Gently worn Crocs will be thoughtfully donated to Soles4Souls, a respected international non-profit organization that serves those in need. Meanwhile, cherished pairs that may have seen better days will be transformed through upcycling and other creative initiatives.
The pilot program is initially rolling out in Crocs retail stores across ten states, including Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin. At each participating location, dedicated collection boxes are available for fans to drop off their older shoes. As an extra token of appreciation, participants can receive a limited-edition ‘Crocs Saver’ Jibbitz charm, available while supplies last.
Deanna Bratter, Vice President and Global Head of Sustainability at Crocs, Inc., shares her enthusiasm for this initiative, stating, «We’re thrilled to take this next step in our journey towards innovating for a circular economy and a more sustainable future for footwear. This pilot program addresses the environmental and social challenges faced by the fashion industry, particularly regarding product waste. By joining forces with our dedicated fans, we aim to inspire innovation and foster partnerships to effectively reduce waste, repurpose materials, divert shoes from landfills, and extend a helping hand to those in need.»
Looking ahead, the takeback program is poised to expand to all Crocs retail and online stores throughout the United States, firmly in line with the brand’s unwavering commitment to circularity and sustainability.
