C&A Europe, the prominent Dutch fashion retailer, is elevating its digital landscape with the recent appointment of Wim Blaauw as Director of Digital and Transformation, effective January 1, 2024. Formerly the Chief Digital Officer at Ingka Group, Ikea’s core subsidiary, Blaauw brings extensive expertise in developing digital capabilities and spearheading transformative initiatives.
Giny Boer, CEO of C&A Europe, expressed confidence in Blaauw’s potential to fortify the company’s digital footprint, stating, «I am delighted that, with Wim Blaauw, we have secured a seasoned digital expert and consumer-focused leader to reinforce our management team.»
Boasting a tenure of over two decades at Ikea, Blaauw held pivotal roles, including Country Manager for Retail Logistics, Deputy Managing Director in the UK and Ireland, and Director of Customer Satisfaction overseeing global order management operations.
This strategic move aligns with C&A’s vision to evolve into a dynamic omnichannel retailer. The appointment is a key component of C&A’s comprehensive restructuring initiated in 2021 to navigate shifting market dynamics, streamline operations, and modernize its expansive network. C&A Europe operates in 17 European countries, with a robust presence of 1,300 stores and a dedicated workforce exceeding 27,000 professionals.
