Balenciaga, the renowned luxury fashion house, is making its mark in the world of winter sports with the highly-anticipated launch of its inaugural skiwear collection, set to hit the market on November 15.
This groundbreaking collection seamlessly marries cutting-edge materials with Balenciaga’s unmistakable style, transcending traditional ski apparel. Balenciaga is venturing into the realm of functional athletic gear, offering downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and hiking enthusiasts snowboards, skis, helmets, and poles tailored for performance.
The apparel range is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship. Highlights include parkas and cargo pants meticulously crafted from membrane-bonded technical ripstop fabric. These pieces feature integrated snow gaiters, ventilation systems, battery-saving pockets, and ski pass holders, ensuring that wearers experience the utmost comfort and preparedness on the slopes.
Remaining true to Balenciaga’s iconic silhouettes, the collection features jackets and vests in quilted matte nylon, along with five-pocket ski pants crafted from bonded stretch nylon. Additionally, the collection includes close-fitting fleece jackets for added warmth and style.
The range of technical ready-to-wear items comprises waterproof fleece-lined jeans made from blue stretch denim, perfect for cold-weather adventures. Accessories in the collection encompass padded gloves, ribbed knit beanies with foldable sunglass lenses, and a selection of cold-weather essentials such as leggings, socks, facemasks, gloves, and scarves. These items are all adorned with the sporty yet reflective Balenciaga logo.
Balenciaga’s skiwear collection also offers two distinctive footwear options. The Alaska Boot reimagines the traditional arctic shoe, incorporating oversized proportions and a unique stylistic edge. Meanwhile, the 3XL Ski Sneaker, a snow-ready version of the original 3XL, is designed to withstand the harshest winter elements.
To mark the launch of this extraordinary collection, Balenciaga has planned an exciting campaign. In the near future, the brand will set up pop-up stores and window installations to bring its skiwear collection closer to fashion and sports enthusiasts.
