IMG, in collaboration with Destination NSW, has announced the highly anticipated Australian Fashion Week 2024. Scheduled for May 13 to May 17, the event is poised to be a global fashion extravaganza in the heart of Sydney.
Known for its international draw, Australian Fashion Week 2024 is set to welcome over 33,000 attendees, ranging from influential international buyers and media to industry insiders, fashion enthusiasts, and event professionals. IMG, the organizing force behind this fashion spectacle, will provide extensive support to designers in various capacities, including runway shows, content creation, programming, special events, and more.
While the event’s iconic runway shows will undoubtedly take center stage, the integrated consumer offering is making a return, with tickets for select runway shows and exclusive programming available from January 2024.
Notably, IMG, in collaboration with Destination NSW and the New South Wales government, has taken a remarkable step by waiving designer participation fees for Australian Fashion Week 2024. This underscores their dedication to empowering the Australian fashion industry.
The specifics of participating designers and the event’s location remain shrouded in anticipation, promising a showcase of creativity and style that will leave fashion enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the big reveal.
In addition to the core event, IMG has initiated the application process for Next Gen, presented by DHL. This program, tailored to emerging designers, offers a prize package valued at over AU$100,000, comprising runway show production, a comprehensive content package encompassing runway photography and livestreaming, and valuable international shipping credits courtesy of DHL.
Lastly, IMG has announced that the Australian Fashion Laureate awards ceremony is scheduled for November 2024. These prestigious awards celebrate excellence in Australian fashion design, sustainability, and leadership, with previous winners including luminaries such as Carla Zampatti, Akira Isogawa, Collette Dinnigan, Dion Lee, and Toni Maticevski.
Natalie Xenita, Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Events and Properties Asia-Pacific, expresses immense excitement about the upcoming fashion events. She emphasizes Australian Fashion Week’s global recognition as a hub of inspiration and innovation, underlining IMG’s unwavering commitment to supporting the industry and propelling talent onto the world stage. The continued partnership with Destination NSW is set to open new avenues for Australian designers and drive growth in the country’s creative and retail sectors.
