According to a comprehensive study by The Green Insurer, nearly 19% of adults are gearing up for some Christmas Eve shopping, injecting a significant boost into the year-end retail fervor.
By December 18, only 25% of consumers are expected to have wrapped up their Christmas shopping. This delay might steer more shoppers toward the high street, especially considering potential delivery delays.
While a whopping 93% of adults intend to partake in online Christmas shopping, with 38% indicating that half or more of their purchases will be made digitally, the remaining two-thirds are primed to patronize physical retailers – spanning high street stores, shopping centers, and retail parks – for their eleventh-hour gift quests.
Paul Baxter, CEO of The Green Insurer, emphasizes, «Last-minute Christmas shopping on the high street is still thriving despite the surge in online shopping, with millions planning to spend some time in the shops on Christmas Eve. The fact that so many people are holding off before completing their shopping underscores that the digital realm hasn’t entirely unwrapped Christmas just yet.
