Argos, the UK’s digital general merchandise retailer, owned by Sainsbury’s, is gearing up for a festive season like no other. They’ve unveiled their holiday advertising campaign, featuring their cherished toy characters, Connie (a doll) and Trevor (a T-Rex), as the stars of the show.
In this heartwarming ‘hero’ film, Connie, the spirited doll, embarks on a captivating Christmas Eve adventure, filled with dance and excitement. As she eagerly anticipates the big day, Connie, under the directorial command of Trevor, bursts into the limelight. With a cheerful «Lights, camera, coffee machine,» Connie emerges wearing a dazzling Barbie-inspired pink sequinned Christmas jumpsuit. All of this unfolds against the backdrop of an enchanting steam-filled atmosphere conjured up by a coffee machine, surrounded by an array of home goods and appliances. The entire scene is set to the infectious beat of Chic’s disco hit, «Le Freak.»
This modern take on the timeless ‘toys come to life’ narrative aligns seamlessly with Argos’ brand platform, «There’s More To Argos,» introduced earlier this year. The campaign’s goal is to showcase the extensive range of highly sought-after products available from the retailer, spanning toys, apparel, home essentials, and beauty products.
The 30-second TV spots are set to air nationwide, complemented by 10-second spots starting from November 19. The campaign extends across various platforms, including BVOD, OOH, press, social media, online channels, radio, and PR in the UK. Furthermore, tailored short-form films created for TV, BVOD, and social media, along with an engaging suite of TikTok films, will offer a fresh and unique perspective on the beloved characters Connie and Trevor.
