Farfetch-owned luxury fashion retailer Browns has released its fall/winter 2022 trend report and the main theme is a focus on sustainability. The company said «awareness is a key pillar» at the retailer and now examines all of its buying through its partnership with Good On You.
The company added that it «works hard to evaluate each brand, ensuring that every designer we welcome into our Browns family continually strives to reduce their impact on the planet. Whether it’s helping to review fabric composition, manufacturing and distribution, we ask everyone to participate in this conversation.»
He has also said that it is important to focus on diversity and inclusion, and that this affects stock, from sizing to colors.
That’s relevant every season. For the fall/winter 2022 season, it’s clear that the retailer has a very varied focus, also reflecting the return to normalcy after the pandemic.
And normalcy means socializing. As for going outwear, the company has dubbed the trend Party 2.0, reflecting the fact that it’s almost a complete reboot of partywear.
«Glamour is the key to dressing well. Short dresses, sequins galore, all paired with towering stilettos,» the company stated.
Included are pieces such as Alessandra Rich’s zebra-striped opaque bodycon dress, Isabel Marant’s sequin strapless jumpsuit paired with thigh-high boots, Off-White’s glitter clutch and Mach & Mach’s sequin mini skirt and crop top.
Transparencies and cutouts are also key, with the company citing Saint Laurent, Kim Shui, Alexandra Vauthier and Versace as go-to brands.
In contrast, the retailer is betting on denim for the new season with an «updated» look comprised of exaggeratedly low-rise jeans in a very ’90s style, as well as two-piece styling with kitsch prints, bold rips and contemporary dark washes.
Among the influencers’ favorite brands are Bottega Venetta, Commission, Connor Ives and Diesel, as well as Givenchy, Kenzo, PE Nation x Ksubi and Rotate.
Given that it’s the fall/winter season, it’s no surprise that outerwear is in the spotlight, as the retailer has gone for oversized faux furs, dramatic full-body styles and oversized biker jackets, as at Chloé. But there are also more structural silhouettes.
Gucci’s faux fur coats and those from Givenchy or Saint Laurent are important, but the more structured leather pieces from Courrèges will also make an impact.
Color is not forgotten, with a wide, belted deep pink coat at Prada. In fact, bright pinks are key colors.
Also in terms of outerwear, skiwear remains on trend, whether it’s for wearing around town or for those finally getting back on the slopes after the pandemic. Silhouettes from Adidas x Terrex, Alanui, PE Nation and Khrisjoy are spacious and color and prints take center stage.
Browns also highlighted some key pieces he’s opted for, including leather looks from 16 Arlington, deep blue combat pants from Dion Lee (another important color), a strapless black tube dress from Alaia and androgynous suit from Gucci.
Key footwear pieces include Valentino’s hot pink platforms and Mach & Mach’s heart-shaped stiletto heel detail. Must-have accessories include Loewe’s quilted clutch and Fendi’s Y2K mini bag.
