MCM, the renowned German luxury leather goods and accessories brand, has forged a strategic partnership with Italian eyewear producer Marcolin. This five-year licensing agreement will see Marcolin take charge of designing, manufacturing, and distributing MCM’s eyeglasses and sunglasses collections until December 31, 2028. The inaugural MCM Eyewear collection created by Marcolin is slated for a grand debut in selected stores starting in January 2024.
MCM, originally established in Munich in 1976 as an accessories brand, has recently embarked on a transformative journey. The brand is realigning itself in the luxury market segment, with a fresh focus on e-commerce and a revitalized brand image. After years of prioritizing streetwear, MCM is eager to reconnect with its roots in craftsmanship, guided by the creative direction of Tina Lutz and Katie Chung. This dynamic design duo unveiled their premiere ready-to-wear and accessories collection in Milan earlier this year.
Currently, MCM’s presence spans 650 retail outlets across 40 countries, encompassing both monobrand stores and multibrand retailers. Key markets for the brand include Asia, Europe (with a significant presence in Germany and Austria), and the USA. This partnership with Marcolin marks a pivotal moment in MCM’s evolution as it seeks to solidify its position in the luxury fashion landscape.
