Eric Bompard’s journey of creative renaissance takes center stage this season with a collection that pays homage to Joan Mitchell, the celebrated American artist featured in the recent Monet-Mitchell exhibition at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
This latest offering showcases a range of exceptional scarves, dresses, and relaxed jumpers. These pieces are born from handprinted sketches, artfully echoing the abstract impressionist style of Joan Mitchell, skillfully digitized and transformed into striking wearable art.
Presented in a Marais studio, this Spring/Summer 2023 collection not only emphasizes artistic expression but also sustainable luxury. It introduces a range of remarkable cable sweaters crafted from non-dyed yarn directly sourced from Mongolia. This choice reflects the brand’s commitment to environmentally conscious practices and offers an elegant color palette featuring off-white, ecru, beige, and caramel.
The collection includes versatile Aran-style gilets with coordinating belts, classic fisherman-knit crew necks, and sophisticated cardigans for men. Each piece is adorned with leather buttons, a subtle nod to craftsmanship and timeless style. Eric Bompard’s dedication to sustainability is underscored by its careful sourcing of materials.
“All our cashmere is from Mongolia, and knitted there, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint,» highlights Carolyn Randolfi, the brand’s creative director.
This collection marks a significant milestone, following the departure of Managing Director Barbara Werschine in July after three and a half years at the helm. As the brand prepares for the future, including the opening of a new store on Rue Francois 1er in the 8th arrondissement, near Avenue Montaigne, the commitment to excellence and sustainability remains unwavering.
Randolfi also introduces knitted lace cocktails with flesh-colored slips for women and light, creamy sweaters featuring denim patch shoulders for men. At its core, the collection offers luxurious essentials, including T-shirts, striped sweatshirts, and tanks, all knitted like sweaters. These basics are created from an 85% cotton and 15% cashmere blend, offering a blend of comfort and elegance.
The collection’s youthful spirit is exemplified by cool, rock-concert-style blend T-shirts bearing the phrase «Bompard Eté,» celebrating summer with a touch of playfulness. The brand’s mission is clear: to provide chic and refined jerseys for diverse occasions.
Standout pieces include open-shouldered knit tops, versatile travel track pants, and tops featuring a new embossed B logo. Eric Bompard ventures into cashmere and blend swimwear, playfully referred to as the «apéro bikini,» in homage to the French tradition of aperitif.
Eric Bompard’s dedication to artistry, sustainability, and luxury basics makes it a formidable force in the fashion world. With a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and a continued focus on high-quality craftsmanship, the brand remains at the forefront of sustainable luxury fashion.
