Four years in the making, 31 Le Rouge is marketed as a «lipstick for life,» allowing owners to purchase refills and pass on the lipstick itself, creating a lasting heirloom. The collection features 12 satin-finish shades that draw inspiration from Chanel’s rich heritage. For example, Rouge 2.55 reflects the color of the 2.55 handbag lining, Rouge Fétiche is inspired by the flannel ribbons that Chanel wore as good luck charms when launching new collections, and Rouge Beige embraces the natural beige color frequently featured in Chanel’s designs.
The lipstick formulas incorporate the iconic camellia flower, maracuja oil, and other skincare ingredients. Chanel claims that upon application, lips appear defined for up to 8 hours, and after four weeks of use, lips have a more sculpted shape, firmness, smoothness, and fullness.
The lipstick case is a true work of art, inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s mirrored staircase at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. It is the first Chanel lipstick to feature glass packaging, with the glass facetted to resemble the iconic staircase. Chanel collaborated with a master glassmaker from Japan to create this extraordinary design, which took four years to perfect. Additionally, this case is more eco-friendly, as it is refillable and contains no plastic components.
