Embarking on a path of constant innovation, AZ Factory, founded by the late Alber Elbaz in partnership with Swiss group Richemont, continues its creative journey through experimental collaborations with emerging designers. The latest luminary to join forces is Jenny Hytönen, the talented Finnish designer who clinched both the jury Grand Prix and the city of Hyères award at the 2022 Hyères Festival.
Jenny Hytönen, a 26-year-old graduate of Aalto University, specializes in the intricate crafts of knitwear and leather. Her fusion of technical expertise, artisanal skills, and forward-thinking trends, coupled with a knack for integrating experimental technology, sets her apart. After a stint at Olivier Theyskens, she ventured into freelancing at the beginning of 2023.
Leaving an indelible mark at the Hyères Festival with a collection seamlessly blending punk/BDSM aesthetics and a glam sexy mood, Hytönen now takes on the challenge of creating 10 distinct looks for AZ Factory. This collection is poised to debut at a presentation during the prestigious Paris Haute Couture Week in January.
Jenny Hytönen follows in the footsteps of accomplished designers like Lora Sonney and Tennessy Thoreson in collaborating with AZ Factory. Notably, AZ Factory champions emerging talents, with Cyril Bourez being the first to stage a show during haute couture week in 2022.
Post-Hyères Festival triumph, Hytönen showcased her versatility by designing capsule collections for Galeries Lafayette and Icicle. Her avant-garde collection, featuring crystal-covered knitwear and studded recycled leather fabrics, captivated audiences. The pinnacle of her creations was a handcrafted wedding dress adorned with a scarlet LED—an emblematic symbol pulsating like a beating heart.
As AZ Factory remains committed to innovation and collaboration, Jenny Hytönen’s upcoming collection promises to be a testament to visionary design and cutting-edge fashion, further solidifying AZ Factory’s position at the forefront of the fashion landscape.
