Internationalization and optimism were the protagonists in the latest edition of the Valencian fair. Held between Friday, May 13 and Sunday, May 15, with the support of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Valencia and IVACE International, as well as with the support of Asepri (Spanish Association of Products for Children), the event focused on communion and ceremony fashion, and the only one of its kind in the sector, closed its 9th edition with positive feelings.

With a total of 67 exhibiting firms, compared to the 40 brands present at its last edition, held between July 10 and 12, 2020, the event received visitors from European countries such as Italy, Portugal and Malta, but also from the rest of the world, with clients from Venezuela, the United States and Puerto Rico. A fact that is not surprising, given the campaign launched by the fair last April to attract potential international buyers.

«The results have been very positive. Exhibitors have sold, many orders have been closed and the point of sale came eager to buy and stock up for next season,» said Alicia Gimeno, director of Día Mágico by FIMI.

After the hard blow of the pandemic, the brands agreed that this has been the edition of recovery. «We have seen many people at the fair, so we have noticed the recovery of the sector,» said Amaya Fashion for Kids, stressing that «the most important thing in this sector is to create magic and illusion». A feeling shared by the brand Crisby’s, from which they said that «people are very excited and eager. This season has sold well and now we hope it will go even better».

«We are very happy with the fair because these have been very complicated years due to the pandemic. And for customers it has been very difficult to place orders during that time. But here, at the fair, the orders have been great. From our portfolio of customers have all come and we have made new customers, both national and international, «explained to FashionNetwork.con responsible for the firm Hortensia Maeso.

«This year the fair is being a success. There is a lot of joy and a lot of desire to start again. Honestly, our brand has not decreased orders during the pandemic, as we were able to adapt to the situation and continue to bring out new collections. In these difficult times, it is important to give customers confidence and show them that the brand is still there,» said Mercedes de Alba, an Andalusian brand that aims to take Sevillian style to every corner of the world with its offer for boys, girls and mothers of communion children.

Paseo Mágico, una pasarela con magia y reivindicación

One of the highlights of the event was the Paseo Mágico catwalk, held on Friday, May 13, in which 6 Spanish firms participating in the show were able to show their new creations together. From the Sevillian folklore of Beatriz Montero to the styles of Amaya Fashion For Kids inspired by the series of the moment, «The Bridgertons», through the traditional Mediterranean style of Crisby’s or the proposal of the firm Mon Air, a line inspired by the tree of life.

There was also a vindictive spirit on the catwalk, with the firm Hortensia Maeso, which presented its designs made from recycled materials, worn by models carrying banners with messages of peace, with a version of the classic «Imagine» by John Lennon, as the soundtrack. At the end of their presentation, one of the models read a small manifesto calling for an end to wars with key phrases such as «All the children of the world deserve more love», «Let children be the future», ending with the message «Peace, please».

The fashion show concluded with a confetti shower of white butterflies offered by the aforementioned Sevillian firm Mercedes de Alba, which presented a classic collection with white as the main color and a touch of fantasy, with a little magician who walked the catwalk enchanting the spectators.

The city of Turia will host the next edition of the event, for which we will have to wait until 2023. Although the dates have not yet been confirmed, the event looks set to be a special one. Día Mágico by Fimi will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
